On this two day course you will learn how to get work as a Director on a continuing drama and how it all works.
On day one we’ll cover: The prep: planning your shoot, casting, finding locations, scheduling, collaborating and camera plans. The shoot: Working well with your team, shooting under pressure and very tight schedules, studio and location shooting, and very importantly, how best to work with the actors, some of whom have been playing that role longer than you have been alive. Post production: all the elements of post. You will then select a scene to prepare, making your own camera plans and all other elements of prep. You will have overnight to perfect this.
On day two you will hit the ground running and each person will have thirty minutes to direct a two hander scene from one of the top continuing dramas. You will work with professional actors on a two camera shoot. During the course there will be time for questions, exercises, clips and reviews. By the end of the course you will have covered everything about shooting a fast paced continuing drama efficiently and well.
