Dr Kulraj Phullar (he/him) is a Film Studies scholar based in London. His areas of interest include intersectional approaches to identity and diversity, classic Hollywood cinema and film noir, British colonial and diasporic cinemas, and popular Indian cinemas.
He has co-curated and hosted panel events at Tate Modern and the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and he has participated in several film events with artist filmmaker Michelle Williams Gamaker and programmer Ranjit S. Ruprai (aka Supakino).
He previously co-curated and introduced Kennington Noir screenings at the Cinema Museum in London, and he has introduced films in other venues. These include Bend It Like Beckham, Purple Rain and a pair of 1950s Hindi films noirs starring Dev Anand in Bristol.
He has taught at BA and MA level at several universities and film schools, and started as a visiting tutor on the Film Studies, Programming and Curating MA in 2021.
