Hannah is a Scottish-born writer and director with a BA in English & World Literature. She trained in screenwriting under the AFI’s Martin Daniel on the North by Northwest script program and Columbia University’s Milena Jelinek at the Mediterranean Film Institute. She trained in directing actors at the NFTS and at the Paris Method Acting Centre.
Her co-written feature Fireworks won the American Screenwriters’ Association Grand Prize, Silver in the Page Awards and the support of the Wellcome Trust.
She works as a screenwriting consultant for the comedian and writer Sir Lenny Henry, most recently script editing on ITV commissioned Three Little Birds, with Russell T. Davies. She and Lenny are currently co-writing Kriss Kross, a comedy drama TV series. As a director Hannah has a raft of prize winning short films under her belt, all of which were awarded public funding and have been screened on UK television – Night Swimmer won the Grand Prix at Vendôme Film Festival, Sheila won Best European director in Rome, and In The Mood - featuring Kelly Brook as a tap-dancing German spy – won silver in Mumbai and was a worldwide feel good festival hit.
Hannah also writes, directs and produces animations through her company Palindromicals. She has worked as a journalist for The Scotsman and The List magazine. She wrote the best selling Secret Edinburgh, an Unusual Guide for Jonglez Publishing now in its second edition, and the new edition of Secret London, Unusual Bars & Restaurants.
