The Prime Video Directors Workshop is a groundbreaking 12-month course designed specifically to increase the number of people from historically excluded groups. To help redress the balance in our industry, for this intake we are committed to supporting more female directors and those based outside London and particularly welcome applications from applicants who meet these criteria. Taking the form of an intensive training course in narrative filmmaking, the six participants selected to take part will each create their own original short film during the workshop, which will welcome a new cohort in May 2025.

The NFTS is looking for talented filmmakers to apply for the Prime Video Directors Workshop. We are hoping to attract candidates from across the UK.
We’re looking for six filmmakers to take part in a two-day introductory session (19th and 20th May 2025), followed by intensive training in narrative filmmaking in an innovative, two-week workshop (23rd June - 4th July 2025). Production of the film projects will take place in November 2025 and Post Production from November 2025 to March 2026.
All participants are guaranteed an interview for the NFTS’ Directing Fiction MA, if they apply for it.

The Prime Video Workshop will culminate with a final screening held in May or June 2026 where participants will premiere their films.
You need to be aged 21+. And You must be a UK national or have settled status or indefinite leave to remain, and able to commit to the programme for its duration.
You must also fulfil at least one of these criteria:
- The scheme is aimed at people from historically excluded groups, i.e. those from minority ethnic backgrounds and lower social economic backgrounds, disabled talent and female or LGBTQI+ filmmakers.
- To help redress the balance in our industry, the NFTS and Prime Video are committed to supporting more female directors and those based outside London for this intake. We strongly encourage applications from these groups.
- The scheme is for people who are working professionally in the creative industries, who have either directed or written broadcast work. We are looking for talent with at least two years paid experience in film, television, advertising, marketing, theatre, or gaming.
In addition to completing the online application form, applicants must submit the following:
- A short film (15 minutes max) which you have directed. Please submit your work via Vimeo links.
- or a script, play or short story you have written. (15 pages max)
If you apply with a script, please note this script might not be the project you make as part of the workshop, if successful. The film you make will be based on discussions you have, during the two-day workshop.
You must also indicate on your application if you are a writer/director or are a director that is willing to work with an NFTS writer.

You must submit an online application and any required supporting materials by 23rd March 2025.
You’ll be informed about whether or not you have an interview, between 7th - 9th April.
Interviews will be held on 22nd, 23rd or 24th April.
We will inform all interviewees about the outcome of the interview on 14th May.
