The NFTS is looking for talented filmmakers that are either women, non-binary, transgender (men and women), those from racially diverse backgrounds, deaf, disabled or neurodiverse and or from a lower-social economic background, to apply for the Prime Video Directors Workshop. We are hoping to attract candidates from across the UK.
The Prime Video Directors Workshop is a ground-breaking 12-month course designed specifically to increase the number of people from historically excluded groups and those from lower social economic backgrounds working in screen directing. Taking the form of an intensive training course in narrative filmmaking, the six participants selected to take part will each create their own original short film during the workshop, which will welcome a new cohort in April 2024.

We’re looking for six filmmakers to take part in a two-day introductory session (23rd and 24th April 2024) followed by intensive training in narrative filmmaking in an innovative, two-week workshop (10th to 21st June). Production of the film projects will take place in in October/November 2024 and Post Production Nov 2024 to Feb 2025.
All participants are guaranteed an interview for the NFTS’ Directing Fiction MA if they apply for it.

The Prime Video Workshop will culminate with a final screening held in May 2025 where participants will premiere their films.
You must fulfil these criteria:
- The scheme is aimed at filmmakers that are women, non-binary, transgender (men and women), those from racially diverse backgrounds, deaf, disabled or neurodiverse and or from a lower-social economic background
- You must be a UK national or have settled status or indefinite leave to remain, and able to commit to the programme for its duration.
- The scheme is for people who are working professionally in the creative industries, who have either directed or written broadcast work. We are looking for talent with at least two years paid experience in film, television, advertising, marketing, theatre, or gaming.
- You need to be aged 21+.
In addition to completing the online application form, applicants must submit the following:
- A short film (15 minutes max) which you have directed. Please submit your work via Vimeo links.
- or a script, play or short story you have written. (15 pages max)
If you apply with a script, please note this script might not be the project you make as part of the workshop, if successful. The film you make will be based on discussions you have, during the two-day workshop.
You must also indicate on your application if you are a writer/director or are a director that is willing to work with an NFTS writer.

You’ll be informed about whether or not you have an interview by 12th March.
Interviews will be 14th, 15th or 18th March.
We will inform all interviewees about the outcome of the interview on 9th April.
