A three-day workshop designed to be informative and hands-on, helping you turn your idea into a narrative for animation.
The days will be split between talks introducing storytelling concepts and developing your own ideas. Students from previous workshops have gone on to use their animatic to seek funding and create award-winning short animations.
Who is it for?
The workshop suits anyone interested in developing their ideas into short animation stories. Past workshops have included animators, producers, and writers from all creative industry sectors.
While being comfortable with drawing your ideas is beneficial, high-level drawing skills aren’t needed for the workshop - drawn matchstick people are fine! This is not a storyboarding workshop.
Subjects covered will include:
1. Finding ideas and employing mission statements to provide them with direction.
2. Shaping your idea into an engaging narrative.
3. Using characters to put emotions and drama into your story.
4. Exploring the potential of metaphors to express an animation idea.
5. Understanding animation techniques and materials to help enhance your idea
