A multicamera director needs the ability to interpret a script creatively and construct action and story sequences whilst manipulating images from several cameras simultaneously. Be it a simple interview or the excitement of a rock band. In addition, a multicamera director must have the presence and personality to be able to lead a studio crew.
On this intensely practical course, students will be introduced to the principles of multicamera directing by undertaking a variety of directing exercises including how to direct music. Students will also experience the roles of vision mixing, floor managing and operating studio cameras.
The aims for this course are to give participants an overall experience of the multi-camera studio. It will give them the opportunity to experience the many different but interconnected roles required for the operation of a TV studio.
This module is designed to be a quick learning process and many students may discover their strengths and weaknesses during it.
Prior to the studio days there will be tuition on plotting camera positions, preparing a variety camera scripts (including music) and camera cards.
Each participant will get practical experience of:

• TV Grammar
• Composition
• Principles of multi-camera production
• Marking up a camera script
• Basics of vision mixing
• Multicamera Directing (including music directing)
The course is aimed at those who have had some experience of directing single camera or have previously had studio experience in roles other than director and who have a passion to become a multicamera director.
