Raft Of National Film And Television School Credits At LFF 2024
This week the BFI London Film Festival (LFF) announced the full programme for its 68th edition, taking place between 9-20th October. 255 features, shorts, series and immersive works from 80 countries, featuring 64 languages will screen over the 12 days to audiences across the UK and online.
As in previous years, the feature film programme is organised into strands, designed to encourage discovery and engage new audiences. We are especially proud to announce that seven productions from the National Film and Television School (NFTS) have been selected for the Shorts Strand. These include graduation films Dragfox, Liminal Roots, Us Four, and Trouble, alongside Prime Video Directors Workshop films The Nobody and See It, Say It, as well as the NFTS/BBC Film Bridge to Industry production Stomach Bug.
Across the LFF programme are many other films with National Film and Television School graduate involvement. These include Mahdi Fleifel’s To a Land Unknown and Sandhya Suri’s Santosh, both selected for the First Feature Competition.
NFTS graduates have contributed to several highly anticipated films, including Steve McQueen’s Blitz, Maria starring Angelina Jolie, and Conclave, featuring Ralph Fiennes.
Pedro Almodóvar’s first English-language film The Room Next Door, shot by Eduard Grau Tarragona notably received a staggering 17-minute standing ovation following its premiere at Venice Film Festival!

Kristy Matheson, BFI London Film Festival Director, said of this year’s line-up: “Cinematic ideas materialise in many forms, and this year artists have taken us to some giddy highs and poked at our tender underbellies. Troubled histories linger close to the surface alongside optimistic futures, all explored in unique and creative ways. As the seasons change and we head into the Autumn, we invite everyone to come to the BFI London Film Festival to discover and enjoy the whole spectrum of moving image.”
The National Film and Television School would like to offer a huge congratulations to all alumni who dedicated their passion and skill to the outstanding productions within this year’s LFF programme.
The 68th BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express will return to its flagship venues in the heart of London – BFI Southbank and the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall from 9 to 20 October 2024. Tickets go on sale on 17 September.
