This one-day course is designed to give you an introduction to data management within film and television.
You will learn how to confidently handle a tapeless workflow on a shoot, from the data leaving the camera through to the arrival in the edit suite. You will get hands-on experience during the course, preparing you for the role of the Digital Imaging Technician with an emphasis on Data Wrangling.

The course will cover:
An overview of current digital camera formats and codecs
An overview of current hard drives, SSDs, cables, connectors and software.
Choosing the correct equipment for a particular job.
How to create a workflow document to insurance recognised standards
Introduction to quality control checking
How to securely transfer, organise and back-up camera data to recognised industry standards with a metadata overview
Who Is This Course For?
No previous experience in the film and tv industry is necessary and we actively encourage applicants from groups who are currently under represented in the film and television industries.
Freelance Rate: £250

If you wish to apply for a bursary to contribute to the costs of your course, please read the bursary guidelines below carefully to confirm your eligibility. Please do not apply to a course unless you are sure you meet the bursary eligibility criteria, or can pay for the course by other means.
Please apply as far in advance of the course date as possible to give yourself the best chance of securing a supported place, as we may not be able to accommodate all applications.

If you are not eligible for an NFTS Scotland bursary, please read our Alternative Funding Avenues document which points you in the direction of a few other places which may be able to help. Please submit your application in plenty of time as timescales for funders differ.
