Are you interested in directing film and TV? Do you understand all that the Director does? Working with Actors is a key facet of the role of Director. This course is designed for any directors, wanting to develop their approach to working with actors.
Led by director Beth Rowland (Bury the Dogs, Waterloo Road), these two days will course introduces key aspects of the director’s role, including script analysis, preparation, and communication with actors. Participants will take part in practical exercises focused on directing performance and working with scripted material.
The course explores a range of techniques to support clear and effective communication with actors, from preparation through to work on set. Participants will work with professional actors in a number of simulated exercises.
- Understand approaches to script analysis for directors
- Develop techniques for communicating with actors
- Gain an understanding of blocking and performance in space
- Explore working within the constraints of a short film shoot
- Understand key roles and working relationships on set
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however it is expected that you have a good standard of written English and a passion for film & TV.
