Overview

This course provides those attending with an introduction to the principles and practices of the work involved in factual television production management.
 
Participants will learn how to take the treatment for a commissioned Factual programme and use this document to schedule and budget the production from pre-production to delivery. 

This course covers: 

• Role, function and responsibilities of a Factual Production Manager
• Breaking down and scheduling a production
• The principles of budgeting
• Insurance
• Scheduling filming 
• Health and Safety
• Post-production
• Negotiation Skills

The course is led by Jenni Shaw, a Line Producer in BBC Studios Factual department in Glasgow. Jenni has worked as a Production Manager at BBC Scotland for 14 years and was Production Executive for Drama in Scotland before her move to Line Producer. As Production Manager Jenni first worked in Entertainment studio programmes and then moved into Factual. Jenni has Production Managed across Arts, History, Science and Specialist Factual genres with credits including Planet Ant, Front Row, Earth's Natural Wonders, Trust Me I'm A Doctor and is currently Line Producer on Earth's Sacred Wonders (the BBC's first Landmark commission for Religion) a Co-Production with PBS.

Specialist speakers will also be brought in throughout the 4 days.

Fees for this course are as follows:

Freelance Rate: £655
Corporate Rate: £1200

Bursaries, supported by the Scottish Government, are also available for those who are eligible.
