Aimed at anyone who wants to produce and direct, this one day course will give you industry insights and tips to help you fully prepare for a filming day on location. With methods that veteran producer-directors use, you’ll learn how to make your filming process efficient and effective, ensuring you get everything you need from your shoot.
Please note this course will take place in Conwy, North Wales. You must be based in Wales to apply. This course is heavily subsidised to £10 with thanks to Creative Wales.
During the day, we will cover:
- Planning. How to break down the filming day into manageable tasks.
- Analysing your shoot. What footage will be needed (and what won’t be needed)
- Shot-lists. Preparing an easy to read list of footage to gather on location.
- Scheduling the shoot. How to create an efficient shooting schedule and avoid time-wasting errors.
- Cover Shots. Shots to illustrate different types of content and the amount of cover required; covering observational scenes.
- Interviews. Typical interview scene set-ups and question techniques. Positioning panel lights and using natural light.
- Problem solving. Avoiding barriers to filming at the planning stage and on location.
- Preparing what you need to take on location. All the essentials that will help your day run smoothly.
