This 2-day introductory course is aimed at those looking to step up to and learn more about the role of the Line Producer on a TV production.
The course aims to help you understand what the role encompasses - from working with your producer during financing, setting up the production, reporting during production and finally handing over during post. The course is primarily focused on TV drama and how the Line Producer forms a key part of the crew and HOD (Heads of Department) team.
This is an informal but structured course, which includes exercises designed to improve skills and increase confidence.
This course will give an overview of the role of Line Producer and help the participants understand the skills required. The course content will include:
• General responsibilities of the Line Producer
• Budgeting and Scheduling
• Cost Reporting
• Recruiting crew and artists including negotiating and basic contracting
• Negotiating for Equipment and Facilities
• Relationship with production accountant
• Relationship with all departments
• Production responsibilities of LP
• Dealing with commissioning company
• Expectations of production company
• Health and Safety
• Managing Artists and Crew during production
• Child licensing
There are no formal entry requirements required for this course however it is helpful if you are able to use a computer (provided).
