A standalone 2-hour session exploring the essential principles of story design in short fiction films. How do short films create impactful, self-contained narratives? This session breaks down the key storytelling parameters that shape a strong short film, from balancing character focus and interaction to using economy in storytelling. Through real-world examples and analysis, participants will explore how to craft tight, engaging narratives that leave a lasting impression.
This session is delivered by Fateme Ahmadi, an award-winning Iranian writer-director whose films have screened at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight and Locarno and received a BIFA nomination. A Berlinale Talents alum and Film London Lodestar, she is currently developing her debut feature Daughter of Eden with BFI, BBC Film, and Screen Ireland.
