Football has already brought some incredible moments this year, with a historic win by Arsenal at the 2025/26 Premier League and the FIFA World Cup now well under way. We caught up with Sports Production MA graduate Harriet Wardle, who now works for Premier League Productions, to find out what it's like working behind the scenes on the most-watched league on the planet.
What was your role on the Premier League?
I work as a Media Coordinator at Premier League Productions/Studios. I first started working with PLP during my NFTS x IMG placement last summer. I was able to work across a variety of departments and productions including the live match broadcast, feature shows and studio shows that support Premier League coverage.
Could you describe a typical day working on the Premier League?
The Media Management team at PLP is responsible for ingesting, processing and archiving all content that comes into the building including press conferences, player interviews and rushes from location shoots. One of the most exciting aspects of the role has been attending shoots! Highlights include Jarod Bowen surprising a fan and Conor Gallagher walking his dog through Hampstead Heath. Experiences like these have been some of the standout moments from PLP.
What is your favourite thing about making sport content?
My favourite thing about creating sport content is sharing stories that exist beyond the headlines and scoreboards. I’m drawn to the human stories behind the sport, and I love being able to capture and share these lesser known moments, challenges and journeys to a wider audience.

What were you doing before you applied to the NFTS and why did you decide to apply?
I applied to NFTS after realising I needed more hands-on experience and the practical skills to work in the Sports TV industry. I wanted to learn how to operate cameras, edit footage and craft compelling stories, but the course has taught me so much more! From directing magazine shows to developing and pitching ideas, the Sports Production course at NFTS gives you an all round understanding about how the Sports TV industry works and the different forms of content that can be created within it.
What are some key skills you learnt at the NFTS that you used in this role?
NFTS has given me the practical skills, confidence and connections to pursue a career in Sports Television. As we move into the next season of the Premier League, I can’t wait to see where these experiences will take me!
