Graduate Game Company Wins Tranzfuser Grant Support From UK Games Fund
Three games studios from the highly talented Tranzfuser 2023 cohort have been selected for grant support from the UK Games Fund including Beyond Tomorrow Studios, an indie games company made up of National Film and Television School graduates including Games Design graduates Julia Spinola, Benjamin Gardiner and Farooq Dehlvi, Animation graduate Flavia Megna and TV Entertainment graduate Harry Lee.
Beyond Tomorrow Studios was one of nineteen teams selected to take part in the Tranzfuser 2023 programme that supports UK graduates to build successful video game development studios, giving them the freedom and space to develop video game IP they want to make and see others play.
The competition for the UK Games Fund saw the 19 talented teams come together at Birmingham’s NEC in September to showcase their games at the Insomnia expo and be in the running to win the grant support. Stephen Hewitt, Prototype Fund Portfolio Manager at the UK Games Fund, said: “Working with the Tranzfuser teams so closely this year at the showcase was a real eye-opener for me and my colleagues; with having our practice pitch and showcase event in such close proximity we were given unrivalled insight into the best graduate game development in the UK today. Each and every team greatly impressed us with their creativity, innovation and professionalism.”

The game developed by Beyond Tomorrow Studios that caught the judges eye was originally created at The National Film and Television School by a skilled team of students, led by Julia Spinola, for her final major project. Sleep Swimmer is a 2D cosy game where you play as Aria, an overwhelmed teenage girl who (in her sleep) travels to Salamanderville, a wonderful underwater world full of salamander people, music and mystery!
Julia Spinola, Beyond Tomorrow Studios, said: “We are so thankful for this opportunity from the UK Games Fund! This funding has given our studio the momentum we needed to grow and establish ourselves within the UK Games community.”
The School is so proud of our graduates for this incredible achievement and we can’t wait to see how Sleep Swimmer and Beyond Tomorrow Studios continue to grow in the future.
