Next Generation Of Game Devs To Showcase At EGX 2022

Second year students from the Games Design and Development MA at the National Film and Television School (NFTS) will showcase their games at EGX 2022, a four day Expo that brings together gamers, creators and industry experts from 22-25 September at ExCel, London.

Gamers and industry professionals can visit stands #RZ13 and #RZ14 in the Rezzed Zone to play 7 unique games across a multitude of different genres and styles, and meet the student developers themselves!

The students have from the beginning of the year to build their games, with the added benefit of being able to utilise the extensive skills of NFTS students on other courses, to create everything from enchanting soundscapes to engaging storylines and artwork.

Throughout the year, our games designers have also been closely collaborating with NFTS Marketing, Distribution, Sales & Exhibition MA students who have been tasked with producing marketing assets for each of the games including posters, press packs, merchandise and promotional videos. The Marketing students will also be attending EGX this year to continue their promotional efforts so keep an eye out for them!

Students aren't the only members of our family attending EGX...Head over to the Leftfield Collection to meet 2022 graduate Louis Torres Tailfer and play the relaxing and meditative Zellige: The Tilemaker of Granada.

Alongside the multitude of games to play, EGX will host a variety of talks and panels over the course of the four days. Catch 2022 NFTS graduate Sophie Artemigi on the GI Academy Stage on Saturday 24th at 12:30pm BST for her talk on Supporting Staff With Disabilities/Working in Games With Disability!

VOX VS. THE VOID

A 2.5D platformer set in a corporate dystopia. The world, once thriving in a music centric bliss was shackled and desensitised by the powers that be to stamp out the joy and colour from life. People, reduced to mere unfeeling cogs in the machine that is Neo-Dischordia. Vox, a renegade, stumbles on an artefact that sets her on a journey to free the people through the healing power of music.

SAFFRON SEAS

A 3D exploration, crew/resource management game, designed to be almost an introduction to strategy and resource management games. It's casual, low stakes and hopefully fun! I have an amazing team helping me get Saffron Seas ready, and I'm really thankful for everything they have done on this project. Come sail the Saffron Seas at EGX!

DON’T BE A CHICKEN

When the world only has one chicken left, our feathered protagonist must run, sail and fly for his life as a hungry grim reaper pursues him. With a world inspired by Dr Seuss and gameplay as addicting as Subway Surfer, this fun and comical mobile game will leave children of all ages entertained for hours.

SLEEP SWIMMER

A 2.5D adventure game where the player gets to explore a dreamy underwater town as Aria, a marine biology student who feels overwhelmed by the demands and over-connectivity of her modern life.

It is only when Aria goes to sleep that she’s able to fully unwind. That’s when she materialises in the wondrous SalamanderVille, only to learn that its inhabitants are facing a similar problem. A new offshore drilling site has been erected right next to town, which emits an awful buzzing sound, making it impossible for its residents to function. Having arrived in the two hour slot when the drilling stops, Aria’s task is to collect all the precious sounds that the Salamanders usually don’t get to hear. Help Aria and meet the lovely citizens of SalamanderVille in this cozy and relaxing, sound-filled game!

BENEATH THE WOODS

An interactive teen horror, mystery survival game set in the fictional small town of Redscott Pines, Oregan. The story follows Davis, who returns to his hometown after two years of being away, to search for his missing sister, Mina. Enlisting help from Mina's closest friends, he follows a trail to an abandoned church in the woods where he stumbles upon something far more sinister than he could ever imagined.

EROS XAVIER’S LOVE SOLUTIONS

Eros Xavier's Love Solutions revolves around Eros, a retired, cynical Cupid who lost the love of his life and decided to become a matchbreaker for hire with a saviour complex: he thinks he is saving couples from the inevitable pain of death by breaking them up prematurely.

He is hired by concerned friends, disapproving parents, and jealous ex-lovers to break apart couples. The player gets to fulfil Eros' tasks by interacting with the environment in order to mess with the couples and annoy them until they fight, and voila! This is how to win the game! So, how many hearts can you break?

BINARY BREAK-IN

Binary Break-In is a stealth heist game. In this binary world, full of robots, one robot stands up to steal art from galleries. Players are immersed into this robotic world where they play as Loxli, the funny and witty character who sneaks behind cleaners and carefully avoids the gallery guards to steal precious works of the finest art.
