Designed to provide you with a thorough, rapid and practical introduction to operational editing techniques using AVID. Class time is divided between short illustrated lectures, demonstrations and (lots of) hands-on practice.
Experience with Avid systems is not necessary. A working background in editing, production or post-production is recommended but not essential, and participants are able to download Avid free of charge for a 30 day trial

- Overview of editing screens and button functions

- Starting to edit – insert or overwrite
- Trimming sequences
- Adding audio from external sources plus EQ Tool and audio suite plugins
- Editing and trimming audio
- Adding visual transition effects and motion effects
- Timewarp and conventional motion effect
- Creating titles – with crawl and roll function and visual manipulation
- Outputting programmes to DVD or tape
- Backing up
- Overview of more complex ‘nesting’ visual transition and segment effects
- Overview of multi camera editing
- Overview of 3D and surround sound facilities
