Prevent Burnout In TV And Film

Content Tabs

Working in TV and film can be exhilarating - but the pace, pressure and unpredictability of the industry mean burnout is a very real risk. Long hours, freelance insecurity and constant delivery can quietly erode wellbeing, often before we recognise what’s happening.

This practical, interactive virtual workshop is designed to help you recognise the early warning signs of burnout and build realistic, sustainable resilience - without asking you to simply ‘power through’.

The session creates a supportive, no-pressure space to pause, reflect and take stock, while remaining firmly focused on practical strategies you can use immediately in your working life. You’ll explore how stress and burnout show up in media environments and how to protect your energy while remaining engaged, creative and professional.

By the end of the session, you will:

• better understand how burnout develops in TV and film

• be able to spot early warning signs in yourself (and others)

• gain practical tools to manage pressure, workload and emotional demand

• leave with a personalised resilience toolkit you can use between contracts

This workshop reflects the approach Emma brings through her work as founder of Creative Reset, her coaching and development practice supporting creatives and media professionals to work sustainably in high-pressure environments. The session draws on her combined experience of working within the industry and supporting individuals to navigate stress, burnout and recovery in freelance creative careers.

The session is led by Emma Dobinson, a personal and professional development coach, producer and educator with over 30 years’ experience across global TV, film, live events and social media.  Her credits span drama and factual, working as Producer, Line Producer and Production Manager for clients including National Geographic, Discovery, Lion TV, betty TV and Windfall Films.

Alongside her industry career, Emma has designed and delivered innovative educational media programmes in collaboration with organisations including the National Film and Television School, Film London, Westminster University, BBC Media Action, Channel 4 and ScreenSkills.

Now working as a coach for creatives and leaders, Emma supports media professionals to thrive - helping them build resilience, confidence and sustainable ways of working.  Whether working one-to-one or with groups, in person or online, she helps clients move from overwhelm to clarity and take meaningful steps forward.
