The National Film and Television School (NFTS) and Amazon MGM Studios have teamed up to launch an exciting new scholarship programme, designed to support the next generation of creative technologists with ambitions to work at the forefront of film, television and games production.

Kicking off from January 2027, the new Amazon MGM Creative Technology Scholarship will provide 10 fully funded scholarships annually, for students pursuing specialist training in emerging technologies and digital production pathways at the NFTS.

A total of ten scholarships will be awarded across the NFTS’s specialist creative technology Master’s degrees in VFX Lighting and Compositing, VFX Environments and Assets, Virtual Production and Animation for Film and Games MA. Two scholarships will support eligible students from the Berkshire region (with preference given to residents of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead) undertaking any one-year NFTS MA course.

The initiative will become part of the School’s long standing affiliation with Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, reflecting a shared commitment to widening access to some of the industry’s most innovative and fast growing careers. The selected courses combine world-class training with the exploration of cutting-edge technologies, including Virtual Production, advanced VFX workflows, animation and the responsible use of AI powered creative tools.

The Amazon MGM Creative Technology Scholarship is designed to help aspiring filmmakers and artists develop into the creative technologists of the future – professionals who can blend artistic vision with technological expertise to shape a new generation of storytelling.

By removing financial barriers to specialist training, the scholarships will help ensure that talented individuals from all backgrounds and from across the UK can access the skills, networks and opportunities needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven screen industry.

NFTS Director Jon Wardle said: “We’re thrilled to team up with Amazon MGM Studios on this exciting new scholarship programme. As technology continues to transform the screen industries at a rapid pace, it’s vital that aspiring creatives from all backgrounds can access the training needed to thrive in these emerging fields. The scholarships will help remove financial barriers to some of our most innovative courses, enabling next-gen creative technologists to develop specialist skills that will shape the future.”

Applicants to the eligible courses are encouraged to apply for the Amazon MGM Creative Technology Scholarship, which will provide financial support for the duration of their one-year MA training.

Eligible applicants offered a place on their chosen course will be invited to apply for funding, at which point they can indicate their interest in the scholarship.
