Pitching your ideas is one of the hardest things a writer has to do. This course aims to give the writer and those who want to develop their pitching skills the tools to be able to pitch their ideas confidently.
The course runs across two weeks on two consecutive mornings, with a week apart to allow the participants time to write a one page pitch proposal. The dates are 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd November 2021.
And to understand more clearly what is required in a one page pitch proposal.
The course’s goal is for each participant to have two solid verbal pitches and one solid one page proposal written at the end of the course.
*Please note that you will be required to print some documents as part of this course. As the course is delivered remotely, this means you should have access to a printer to do this yourself. If this is an issue for you, please advise at the time of application.
You will also be required to access a course padlet on your device.
Participants will:
Learn about the different types of pitches.
Discuss the different strands that need to be included when developing an idea for a drama series.
Look at the important elements that should be highlighted when pitching an idea in a meeting.
Deconstruct written one page proposals.
Understand the structure of a written proposal.
Be given the chance to practise verbal pitching.
Write a one page proposal from one of the ideas pitched.
Give and receive peer group feedback on the written one-page proposal.
Specialist speakers will also be brought in during the sessions.
In order to get the most from this course, please come with a couple of your own ideas that you can work on.
This course is aimed at producers, script editors and writers who would like to develop their pitching skills and understand the processes involved.
