This practical five day course introduces participants to the foundational skills required to work as an Assistant Editor in scripted High End Television and feature film productions and is filled with hands-on exercises to learn from and gain feedback.
This course is suitable for participants interested in a career in post-production, specifically editing, or are at an early stage in their post-production career in scripted. It is also suitable for those already working in post-production in non-scripted production who would like to move into scripted post-production.
The course covers:
Setting up an Avid Project
Proxy workflows and ingesting
Covering sync and preparation of rushes
Multi-cam sync, logging and paperwork
Common Assisting Tasks
Online Turnovers
Applicants should have used Avid Media Composer before and have a basic knowledge of its use in order to benefit from the course.
If you haven't, we also offer Introduction to Avid Media Composer training which would be great to undertake first.
Freelance Rate: £625
Corporate Rate: £1250
Bursaries, supported by Screen Scotland, to contribute to the costs of attending this course may be available to those who are eligible. Please read the bursary guidelines which are published below first to check if you are eligible. If you are eligible, please indicate if you are also applying for a bursary or not.
Please apply as far in advance of the course date as possible to give yourself the best chance of securing a supported place, as we may not be able to accommodate all applications.

Once you have submitted your course application, your bursary application, and supporting documents, should be submitted to scotland@nfts.co.uk. Your bursary documents are reviewed by a panel and we aim to be in touch as soon as possible with an outcome for you.
