NFTS Natural History Grad Wins Rhino Trophy for Best Documentary at 2019 British Documentary Film Festival

More congratulations are in store for NFTS Directing and Producing Science and Natural History MA graduate, Matt Senior whose graduation film, Now Or Never, which highlights the plight of the rare Tapanuli orangutan has won a prestigious rhino trophy for ‘Best Documentary’ at this year’s British Documentary Film Festival’ which took place in May in Leicester Square.

NFTS Grad Wins 2019 TV BAFTA for Docu-Drama ‘Gun No 6’

NFTS Directing Documentary MA alumnus James Newton has scooped a TV BAFTA for ‘Best Single Documentary’ with docu-drama Gun No 6 which follows the story of Britain's deadliest illegal gun, charting every shooting of Gun No 6 and exposing the realities of modern gun crime. The BAFTA Television Awards took place on the 12th May at the Royal Festival Hall and were hosted by Graham Norton.

NFTS Natural History Students Investigate the Science of Sleep, Intelligence of Amoeba & Delve Into Astrophysics

One of the first projects the NFTS Directing and Producing Science and Natural History MA students get their teeth into is a series of filmed science based interviews. Splitting into three teams, the students chose to film interviews on a range of subjects including the science of sleep, the intelligence of amoeba and fast radio bursts, a new phenomenon in astrophysics.

BAFTA winning writer-director Amma Asante Inspires Students at Masterclass

NFTS students were treated to two inspirational sessions with BAFTA winning writer-director Amma Asante. Fiction directing students enjoyed an afternoon Q&A hosted by co-heads of fiction Lesley Manning and Brian Gilbert. Later, all NFTS students had the chance to watch a preview of her latest film Where Hands Touch, followed by a Q&A with Amma in conversation with NFTS director Jon Wardle.

NFTS Digital Effects MA Student Named in 2019 Forbes ‘30 Under 30’ Most Successful People List

Dominik Bari, NFTS Digital Effects MA second year student, has been included in an annual list compiled by Forbes magazine, highlighting him as one of 30 most successful people under 30 in his homeland of Slovakia. Dominik was personally congratulated by the President of Slovakia, Andrej Kiska at the award ceremony.
