NFTS Cameras, Sound and Vision Mixing students work in partnership with Sky on live multi-camera studio exercise

NFTS students recently took over Sky Studios, to work on a series of multi-camera studio shows including a quiz, sitcom and music show featuring three bands. The students were taught and directed by industry professionals including Mick Thomas (The Chase) and Richard Boden (The IT Crowd).

NFTS and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures UK join forces on Diverse Directors Workshop - a free course to increase diversity in screen directing

The Diverse Directors Workshop, run by the National Film and Television School (NFTS), is a leading diversity programme to increase the number of women, people from BAME backgrounds and those with disabilities working in screen directing. This year’s programme is being sponsored by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures UK.  The course, which has no fees, will see participants able to attend special masterclasses and events with actors and film-makers from some of Disney’s forthcoming titles.

All3Media Launches New NFTS Scholarships for Writers from a BAME Background

NFTS announces that All3Media, one of the UK’s leading independent television, film production and global distribution companies, is to strengthen its partnership with the School by providing three new scholarships for students from a BAME background on the two-week ‘Writing the TV Pilot’ course at NFTS and NFTS Scotland.

Sky Sports Director Jerry Logan trains Sports Production Diploma Students

“Jerry Logan is a master of his craft and taught us so many aspects of directing sport” - Students on the NFTS Sports Production Diploma were joined by OB and Studio Director Jerry Logan; who, with over 20 years’ experience as a Programme Director for Sky Sports, mentored and guided the students in a pool tournament and sports chat show exercise.

Industry Turn Out in Force for NFTS Diverse Directors Showcase

The film and television industry turned out in force last night to watch the films from the second NFTS ‘Diverse Directors Workshop’. The aim of the scheme, which was launched in 2017 in association with British production company, EON Productions, is to increase the number of women working in screen direction as well as people from BAME backgrounds and those with disabilities.

Commemorative Gromit Sculpture Unveiled at NFTS

NFTS students and staff today unveiled a sculpture of much loved stop motion animation character Gromit at the School. The sculpture was specially commissioned to mark the upcoming 30th anniversary of Wallace & Gromit being created by NFTS Directing Animation MA alumnus Nick Park at the School for his Oscar® nominated graduation film, A Grand Day Out, which premiered in 1989.
