How does a screenplay actually improve on the way to becoming a film? This five-part course examines the intricacies of script analysis — as well as the power of critical yet generous feedback — on the journey from script to screen.
Using real world examples, writing & feedback exercises, and outside industry guests, the course aims to enhance the working relationships between writers, directors, producers, and those closest to them in the creative process.
Industry guest speakers will be brought into the class at various points during the course.
This course covers:
- Tools to analyze screenplays in progress;
- Detecting & resolving weaknesses/pitfalls in story and vision;
- Training in the art of giving feedback;
- Translating a screenplay to the right kind of physical production;
- Finding & creating opportunities to enhance both the creative vision and the physical production;
- Enhancing creative collaboration;
- Different styles of screenwriting — and producing!
This course is aimed at writers, directors, producers, script editors/supervisors, assistant directors, and those with a role in script development at each stage of a production.
