The Self-Shooting Accelerator programme is a practical self-shooting skills training programme for early career filmmakers and TV practitioners to gain essential experience in a supported environment in order to develop their technical skills, be that for shooting their own content or progressing in their freelance career as a shooting researcher, assistant producer, producer or camera operator for factual or documentary projects and programmes.
The programme is supported by Screen Scotland and, with fees fully funded, it is expected to be competitive. Therefore places will be offered to those who can best demonstrate that their self-shooting skills specifically are a barrier to their progress.

While the course aims to super-boost your confidence filming, a large part of supporting this is making sure you are shooting material which can be edited together well. You may bring your own laptop edit suite or use one provided by NFTS Scotland.
Please note that we won't be teaching editing skills in the course but you will have the opportunity to work with your filmed footage in an edit so you can reflect on your filming choices.
There are no formal entry requirements. However, we expect that as places will be in high demand, we expect applicants to be able to demonstrate clearly how they will benefit, and progress in their career and/or practice, from the course.
