This course combines lecturing and group discussion, delivered over 8 weeks, 1 evening a week (usually a Wednesday)
This online programme is delivered by Toby Fell-Holden a British writer-director based between New York and London.
Toby has taught filmmaking and masterclasses at Columbia, NYU, MetFilm, Queen Marys University, and he is a visiting fellow at Arts Uni Bournemouth.
He is a Screen International Star of Tomorrow for 2016 and a Film London Lodestar of 2020, and has been awarded fellowships from the Moving Picture Institute and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
- The exploration of fundamental principles of storytelling through reading excerpts and the analysis of shorts films
- Brief assignments both during and between sessions to develop your characters, ideas, and the ability to analyse the short form
- Your scripts will be read and discussed by the group in a constructive manner to help further develop the work and your ability to dissect the writing of others
- Advice will be offered on how to find producers and funding to support your next steps into production
Participants arrive with a log-line or idea for a short, and over the duration of the course you will expand the idea before then developing it into a 10-15 page script that will have gone through two drafts.
