In this one day course, James Spinks will provide an essential guide for anyone wanting to pursue a career in the Hair & Make Up department, sharing his extensive experience from many years working in the film and tv industry.
About the Tutor
James Spinks is an accomplished, BAFTA Cymru nominated Head of Hair and Make Up and Make Up Designer who is based in Wales and has worked across a wide range of genres including live TV, TV drama, film, theatre, commercials and editorial content. James has over 24 years of experience in all aspects of hairdressing and studied Make Up and Hair for Theatre, Film and TV in London. James’ credits are numerous but include Y Swn (S4C), Wolf (Ep 4,5,6) (BBC 1), The Light in the Hall (Channel 4), The Secret (S4C), Enid a Lucy 2 (S4C), Respectable Girls (S4C), Morfydd (S4C), Butterfly (S4C) Homework (S4C), Land (S4C) and Under Milk Wood (BBC).
Over the course of the day, you will learn about:
How the Make Up Department is structured, from entry level roles upwards
The day to day responsibilities of each role, both in pre-production and during a shoot
Set protocol and etiquette
Film & TV Production Paperwork
Script Reading & Script Breakdown
Character Breakdown
Reading a Call Sheet
Understanding a Shoot Schedule
At the end of the day, there will also be a Practical Demonstration
You must be over 18 to attend this course. No previous experience or training in hair and make-up is required. You must be based in Wales to apply.
