NFTS Grads Win 2019 RTS Television Award for Animation about Life of Palaeontologist Mary Anning

A short animation - Mary Anning: The Girl Who Helped Discover Dinosaurs - directed by NFTS Directing Animation MA alumna, Anna Humphries with music composed by NFTS Composing MA alumna, Alexandra Harwood, has scooped a prestigious RTS West of England Television Award for Best Animation.

NFTS Natural History Grad Film Highlighting Plight of Rare Orangutans Wins Documentary Award & Screens at Festivals Across the Globe

Recent NFTS Directing and Producing Science and Natural History MA graduate, Matt Senior’s graduation film, Now Or Never, which highlights the plight of the rare Tapanuli orangutan has won the Best Short Documentary Award at the 2019 International Film Festival de Santa Cruz in Argentina at its first festival appearance. Having already screened at festivals across five continents, the next screening will be in London’s Leicester at British Documentary Film Festival Square on May 9.

Oscar winning Production Sound Mixer Mark Ulano delivers warm and aspirational masterclass to NFTS Students

The NFTS was alive with excitement and warmth as NFTS students welcomed Oscar-winning Production Sound Mixer Mark Ulano to deliver an engaging and inspirational masterclass and Q&A session. Mark, who has over 140 credits to his name, is famed for his production sound design work for films such as Kill Bill, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight and Titanic - for which he won an Academy Award for ‘Best Sound’.

Oscar Nominated Animation Director Chris Butler Enthrals NFTS Students with the Magic of Stop Motion & Preview of His New Film Missing Link

Following a special preview of stop motion animation studio, LAIKA’s new feature, Missing Link, NFTS students were treated to a Q&A with the film’s director and writer, Chris Butler. Missing Link is Chris’s follow up directorial feature for LAIKA after Paranorman, which was nominated for both an Oscar and a BAFTA for ‘Best Animated Feature’.
