Over 130 Alumni Credits at the 2019 BFI London Film Festival

NFTS Alumni have over 130 credits on films screening as part of this year’s BFI London Film Festival including the European Premieres of ‘Saint Maud’ and ‘Calm with Horses’ directed by NFTS alumni Rose Glass and Nick Rowland which are competing in the Best Film and Best First Feature categories.

National Film and Television School to Open Hub in Leeds

NFTS announces it is to open a hub in Leeds following the successful opening of NFTS Scotland, which is based in Glasgow. NFTS Leeds is part of the School’s ongoing strategy to support the growth of film and television production outside London and is supported by NFTS Platinum Partner, Channel 4 whose new HQ is to be based in the city as well as ITV, who also have a production base in the City, BFI, Screen Yorkshire and ScreenSkills.

StoryFutures Academy Partners with Maze Theory to Train Writers to Write for VR Including Opportunity to Work on Peaky Blinders VR Experience

StoryFutures Academy, the National Centre for Immersive Storytelling jointly run by the National Film and Television School (NFTS) and Royal Holloway, University of London, announces a partnership with innovative VR studio, Maze Theory to train writers in the art of writing for VR and to provide an opportunity for one writer to work with them on their upcoming Peaky Blinders VR experience, which is due for release in 2020.

Successful First Year for Glasgow Based Film, Television and Games School Hub, NFTS Scotland

NFTS reports that NFTS Scotland, its new hub based at BBC Scotland in Glasgow has had a successful first year with over 22 courses completed and over 170 course participants, half of which have received bursary-supported places. Course participants are expected to grow to over 400 per year once NFTS Scotland is running at full capacity.

NFTS Natural History Grad Film Highlighting Plight of Rare Orangutans Wins Documentary Award & Screens at Festivals Across the Globe

Recent NFTS Directing and Producing Science and Natural History MA graduate, Matt Senior’s graduation film, Now Or Never, which highlights the plight of the rare Tapanuli orangutan has won the Best Short Documentary Award at the 2019 International Film Festival de Santa Cruz in Argentina at its first festival appearance. Having already screened at festivals across five continents, the next screening will be in London’s Leicester at British Documentary Film Festival Square on May 9.

First StoryFutures Academy Co-Funded Immersive Production Selected for Tribeca Festival

StoryFutures Academy, the National Centre for Immersive Storytelling jointly run by the National Film and Television School (NFTS) and Royal Holloway, University of London, announces that its first co-funded immersive production, Common Ground, directed, produced and written by Darren Emerson has been selected for the Tribeca Film Festival. Common Ground can be experienced at the Festival’s Virtual Arcade, presented by AT&T which takes place between April 26th to May 4th 2019 in New York.
