TV and Film Career Growth

Freelancing in TV and film is fast-paced, exciting and creatively rewarding - but moving from project to project often leaves little time to actively manage your own career.  Decisions get deferred, momentum stalls and career development become something you intend to think about rather than something you plan.

This BiteSize virtual session is designed to change that.

You’ll be guided through a structured, practical process to help you assess where you are in your career right now, clarify what you want next and identify realistic actions that move you forward.  Rather than abstract career theory, the focus is on usable tools, reflective frameworks and clear outputs you can return to between contracts.

By the end of the session, you will:

• have a clearer understanding of your current career position

• define your career priorities and goals

• gain practical tools to support decision-making, transition and change

• leave with a simple, actionable plan for your next steps

This session reflects the approach Emma brings through her work as founder of Creative Reset, her coaching and development practice supporting creatives and media professionals to build sustainable, fulfilling careers.  The content draws on her combined experience of working within the industry and supporting individuals to take greater ownership of their career direction in freelance environments.

The session is led by Emma Dobinson, who has over 30 years’ experience across TV, film, live events and social media.  With credits as a Producer, Line Producer and Production Manager across drama and factual genres, her global client work includes National Geographic, Discovery, Lion TV, betty TV and Windfall Films.

Alongside her industry career, Emma holds a Master’s in Education and has designed and delivered innovative educational media programmes in collaboration with organisations including the National Film and Television School, Film London, Westminster University, BBC Media Action, Channel 4 and ScreenSkills.

Now working as a Career and Personal Growth Coach for leaders and creatives, Emma takes a practical, holistic approach - combining career strategy with resilience, values-led decision-making and leadership development.  Working online and in person, with individuals and groups, she helps people move from reflection into action and make meaningful progress in their careers.
