This course is aimed at individuals wish to explore an introduction to sound and how it works in story-telling, both for picture and for podcasts. It is also for content producers who wish to gain a better understanding of how to create high quality audio for their videos, vlogs and movies.
During the course, you will learn to think about audio in a more strategic and practical way, by participating in a combination of basic theoretical and practical tasks.
By the end of the course you will have developed a greater understanding of the fundamentals of using sound as part of the narrative, a practical introduction to the post-production audio chain as well as the equipment and techniques involved.
This course covers:
• What is sound and what is good sound
• How to record your voice
• Telling your story using sound
• An overview of getting audio from the recording to the finished product
• A brief intro to the stages of audio post-production
• Basics of sound editing
• Overview of software and kit: budget & professional
No entry requirements other than an interest in creating quality audio.

Bursaries, supported by Screen Scotland, to contribute to the costs of attending this course may be available to those who are eligible. Please read the bursary guidelines which are published below first to check if you are eligible. If you are eligible, please indicate if you are also applying for a bursary or not.
