Special anniversary season ‘NFTS at 50’ will feature Q&As with some of the School’s best-known alumni including Roger and James Deakins, Terence Davies, Sarah Gavron, Nick Broomfield, Shola Amoo, Clio Barnard, Kim Longinotto and more.
The NFTS, in partnership with WarnerMedia/WarnerMediaAccess and Netflix, are running a series of Taster Workshops for our part time blended learning course for those looking to develop their career within Post Production Supervision.
The BFI has opened applications for the Short Form Animation Fund, which aims to support growth in the UK animation sector. A new development is a partnership with StoryFutures Academy – the UK’s National Centre for Immersive Storytelling run by the NFTS and RHUL – who will contribute a grant of up to £50,000 each to support two animated projects that are intended to be immersive in nature, through virtual or augmented reality content.
Festival de Cannes is well underway and we are thrilled to see a raft of world premieres featuring NFTS alumni screening at this year's event including Joanna Hogg's The Souvenir Part II and Clio Barnard's Ali and Ava.
The NFTS is incredibly proud to see 2021 graduation animation Other Half among the 17 films selected for the 24th edition of the Cinéfondation Selection of the Festival de Cannes, the only UK title to screen from a total of 1,800 entries. To celebrate this incredible achievement, we caught up with the NFTS team behind the film and follow puppet Ren, the star of Other Half, through the process of being brought to life.
